We design gear for the long walk, the cold bivouac, and the four-season trail. Every product spends forty nights on the trail before it ships, and we repair what we make — for life.
How we got here
Baobab Gear started in 2019 in a rented workshop in Taipei's Da'an district. Our founder cut patterns on her kitchen table, walked the prototypes up Xiangtian Mountain, and re-cut them in the evening. The first pack we shipped went to a friend who walked the Tahara Rim in eleven days.
Six years later we are a team of fourteen, still based in Taipei, still cutting and sewing in the same neighborhood. We have grown because the trail has stayed the same: long, demanding, and absolutely indifferent to your brand. We are trying to make gear that respects that.
What we hold to

Craft
Hand-built in Taipei by a team of fourteen makers. Every seam, every stitch, every roll-top closure is signed off by a person who knows your name.
Ecology
Recycled nylon, plant-based DWR, and a supply chain we visit twice a year. Our materials leave a paper trail — and so does our waste.
Test
Every prototype spends forty nights on the trail before it ships. Taroko, Alishan, and Yakushima, mostly — and we publish the field reports.
Trail impact
Since 2020 we have restored 1,200 km of degraded trail in northern Thailand with our partners at the Hmong Forest Cooperative. One percent of every order funds the work.
